Like many remodelers and custom homebuilders, I fell into the industry and immediately enrolled in the School of Hard Knocks.
I spent long, stressful years working too hard on the wrong projects for the incorrect margins and spending a LOT of late nights worrying about finances.
That trial-by-fire education is unforgiving, costly, and most importantly - avoidable.
Like A House, I Needed A Solid Foundation
Everything changed when I recognized I needed to find solutions for the problems I faced.
The journey to success in a residential construction company is like a three-legged stool – you need to sell work, estimate it correctly, and most importantly, keep score. If one leg breaks, the stool falls over.
There was a lot to learn and I spent 21 years doing precisely that.

I started my career as a laborer. Progressed to become a Red Seal Carpenter --> Site Super --> Project Manager and finally a General Manager. I've owned my own business, and I've been part of successful, prominent remodeling/custom home building brands.

Scaling A Construction Business With Success
As a General Manager, leading a large team was a new challenge for me.
But managing all the nuts and bolts of operations with a large team was foreign territory.
At first, I was a young smart-ass telling people what to do. I wasn't making friends.
I looked outward for resources and people who could teach me the principles of leadership.
With this newfound approach, I successfully ran dozens of large-scale projects, mentored my teammates with project management processes, and managed demanding clients.
I was ready for my next challenge.
But what would it be?

In 2018 I became a certified passive house builder and built my last start-to-finish high-performance home. With two-plus decades of experience under my tool belt, I poured all of my knowledge and expertise into this project. When I finished, I realized that I could build another house or have more of an impact.
